WARRENSBURG, MO – The University of Central Missouri announced today that effective
May 20, it will remove the on-campus face covering requirement for fully vaccinated
individuals. The university made the decision after considering the and consulting with health experts. Individuals on campus who have not been fully
vaccinated should follow CDC guidance, and those who desire to wear face coverings
may continue wearing them and are not discouraged from doing so. No other changes,
including workspace and classroom design, are being implemented at this time.

The university’s decision, which applies to both the indoor and outdoor environments,
is consistent with its efforts throughout the pandemic to follow CDC guidance as a
way to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Scientific and medical evidence and the
university’s own experience have shown face coverings to be effective in reducing
the transmission of COVID-19. Scientific and medical evidence also indicates that
being fully vaccinated is the most effective current means of reducing transmission
                                                   to others.

During the coming weeks and months, a number of external organizations will be hosting
conferences and special events on the UCM campus. Event organizers may establish their
