Engineering Design Technology Degrees - Program Information

Engineering Design Technology Mission Statement

The mission of the Engineering Design Technology program at the University of Central Missouri is to offer a nationally accredited program of study that meets the technical, managerial, and general educational needs of individuals seeking to enter or advance in design and drafting-related professional careers. 

Engineering Design Technology, B.S.

The University of Central Missouri offers a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Design Technology with options in Civil & Architectural Design and Mechanical Design. These programs combine creativity and technology, providing hands-on experience with cutting-edge CAD software, 3D printers, and Virtual Reality. Graduates will be equipped to pursue diverse careers in infrastructure and product design.

First Destination Success Rates

These reports summarize the outcomes of UCM graduates six months after graduation, as measured by First Destination Success (FDS). FDS is defined as graduates who are actively engaged in employment or educational pursuits, including full-time or part-time employment, military service, volunteer or service programs, or continuing education. Program Education Outcomes

Within a few years of graduation, a graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Design Technology will use the knowledge and skills obtained in the program to:

  • Establish successful careers in engineering design, technology, and related fields and/or pursue advanced education or professional development.
  • Apply modern engineering design tools, technical knowledge, effective communication, and teamwork skills to solve broadly defined design and drafting problems.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, ethical responsibility, respect for diversity, and a commitment to lifelong learning and service to their organizations and communities.

Student Outcomes

The graduate with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering Design Technology will use the knowledge and skills obtained in the program to:

  • Select and apply the knowledge, techniques, skills, and modern tools of the discipline to broadly defined engineering technology activities;
  • Apply written, oral, and graphical communication in both technical and non-technical environments; 
  • Select and apply a knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering, and technology to design & drafting technology problems; 
  • Identify, analyze, and solve broadly defined design & drafting technology problems; 
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and a commitment to address professional and ethical responsibilities, including a respect for diversity; and
  • Function effectively as a member or leader on a technical team.

Engineering Design Technology Student Organizations (EDTSO)

Join a community designed to support and empower Engineering Design Technology students. EDTSO provides valuable leadership opportunities, hands-on learning experiences, and a supportive environment for networking with fellow students, faculty, and industry professionals. Through meetings, events, and industry engagement, members gain insight into careers in construction, engineering, and architectural drafting while building skills that extend beyond the classroom.
